How does stress affect me?

You may notice feeling

  • Irritable, frustrated and easily wound up
  • Unable to enjoy the things you usually would
  • Hopeless and helpless
  • Anxious
  • Unhappy,upset &tearful
  • Guilty
  • Restless

You may experience changes in your body

  • Breathlessness
  • Tired
  • Forgetful
  • Chest pains / rapid heart rate
  • Changes in appetite
  • Indigestion

  • Changes in your thinking (what you say to yourself). E.g. thinking the worse will happen, criticisng yourself, think about how other people view you.
  • Worrying more or feeling uneasy / fearful
  • Feeling on edge or unable to switch off
  • Problems getting to sleep or staying asleep
  • Avoiding doing certain things
  • Checking things more
  • Drinking more alcohol
  • Smoking more
  • Taking prescribed or non- prescribed drugs
  • Isolating yourself
