Why me?

Lots of things can lead you to experience panic and sometimes it can be difficult to pinpoint exactly how it starts. Some of the reasons are below

  • Stressful life events e.g. bereavement, losing a job, getting divorced
  • Family background – if someone in your family has panic attacks then you are more likely to develop them. This will be a mix of nature (your temperament ) and nurture (the things you learned growing up)
  • You may have a specific fear of something (phobia)
