How does Anxiety affect me?

Anxiety affects how you feel, think and act.

You may notice the following physical changes in your body

  • Fast heart beat
  • Breathlessness
  • Dizziness
  • Sweating
  • Headaches
  • Muscle tension
  • Chest pains
  • Feeling Sick
  • Butterflies in Stomach

You may also notice

  • Changes in your thinking (what you say to yourself). E.g. what if…. I can’t cope… how can I get out of…
  • Worrying more or feeling uneasy / fearful
  • Feeling on edge or unable to switch off
  • Problems getting to sleep or staying asleep
  • Being more irritable than usual
  • Avoiding doing certain things
  • Drinking more alcohol
  • Smoking
  • Taking prescribed or non- prescribed drugs
  • Isolating yourself
  • Avoiding things
